Players Announces Auditions for Two Shows
(Fair
Lawn, August 12, 2010) Fair Lawn’s Radburn Players will hold
auditions for its 2010 fall show, Almost, Maine,
on September 14 and 15, 2010, beginning at 8pm at The Radburn
Association’s Grange Hall 29-20 Fair Lawn Avenue. On the same
evenings The Players will also hold auditions for an original
staged reading by Laura Bell, Skinny People in Their
Natural Habitat.
For
Almost, Maine, director Christine O'Donnell seeks a
four to eight women and men in their 20s through early 40s.
Actors play multiple roles and must be versatile. Sides from
the script will be provided. The show will run for six performances
November 12 through 20 this fall. Written by John Cariani, the
play takes place on a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle
of winter, where all is not quite what it seems to be in the
remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights
hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost’s residents find
themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often
hilarious ways. Knees are bruised, hearts are broken. But the
bruises heal and the hearts mend – almost – in this delightful
midwinter night’s dream.
For
Skinny People in Their Natural Habitat, an original
comedy to be read at the Grange Hall on Saturday, October 16,
playwright and director Laura Bell seeks three women and two
men of a larger frame and of any age.
Founded
in 1930, The Radburn Players is one of the oldest continually
operating theater groups in New Jersey. For more information,

the cave country of rural North Carolina. After a young girl
is lost in a cave on the edge of town, theater goers are immersed
in her disappearance and the fate of those who survive her.
With evocative poetry and striking images, "Language of
Angels" is a deeply human story of working class youth
bound by poverty and pushed to the limits of friendship as they
deal with grief and loss in their lives. The play contains adult
themes and language.
